Meet Shelly D. Boxx

The Awakening Saga didn't begin on the page. It began in my own life, in a journey back to my truth, a return to my power, and a commitment to my soul.

As a Missouri Ozarks native, this land is an intricate part of everything I write. When my characters walk into the fictional town of Ashfern, they are entering a world similar to where I grew up. Ashfern is named for the Ashe juniper, sometimes called the Ozark white cedar. These trees are rare relics found along the limestone bluffs of southern Missouri. If you are from Missouri, you know why that matters. In my saga, Ashfern grows these ancient trees because it, too, is a place where something old and precious has quietly endured.

At the heart of the saga, runs so much more than its setting; the lineage itself carries a character named after my own late father and sister, and a surname drawn from my own family tree. A variation shaped and born from ancient history. For me, these characters are a part of my family. And because of that, the entirety of this saga is alive within my soul; all five Remembrance Cycle books, as well as the entire universe; just waiting to be penned, like rivers wait to be merged. After a series of life-changing events; my own grief, pain, loss, and newly birthed curiosities are now transformed into the books you hold. What began as one colossal story, became a series, so that you may enter one door at a time.

I write for the part of us that is rising, the part that is releasing the old, embracing the now, and remembering that we were always meant for more. Every book in this universe is born from one belief: that we are far more powerful, and far more connected, than we have ever been told.
